The research aims to improve the students’ writing skill on monolog text (Recount text and Narrative text) by applying a media called LSB (Little Smart Book) for the students of VIII-B MTsN Gondowulung Bantul in the academic year of 2022/2016. The research is a classroom action research that is done in two cycles. Every cycle consists of four steps. They are planning, acting, observing and reflecting.The result of the research showed that the implementation of LSB could improve the students’ English writing skill on monolog text (Recount text and Narrative text) of the students of VIII-B MTsN Gondowulung Bantul. The result of English writing test showed the improvement on the average mark which obtained 75,48 on the cycle I and rose to 76,94 on cycle II. This result has gained the target of the research that is 75. The students who achieved the minimal standart criteria also improved from 71% on cycle I to 80,6% on cycle II. It means the result of the research has gained the bahan of the research that is 80%. The result of the research also showed the improvement of students’ active participation in the classroom. The students’ active participation obtained 83,9% in cycle I and rose to 87,1% in cycle II. This indicated that the improvement of the students’ active participation in the classroom has gained the target of the research.
